چکیده

Moir\'e magnetism, parallel with moir\'e electronics that has led to novel correlated and topological electronic states, emerges as a new venue design control exotic magnetic phases in twisted two-dimensional(2D) crystals. Here, we report direct evidence of noncollinear spin texture 2D double bilayer (tDB) magnet chromium triiodide (CrI$_3$). Using magneto-optical spectroscopy tDB CrI$_3$, revealed the presence net magnetization, unexpected from composing antiferromagnetic bilayers compensated magnetizations, emergence spins, originated exchange coupling-induced frustrations. Exploring twist angle dependence, demonstrated both features are present CrI$_3$ angles 0.5$^o$ 5$^o$, but most prominent 1.1$^o$ CrI$_3$. Focusing on temperature dependence resolved dramatic suppression magnetization onset significant softening result induced frustration. Our results demonstrate power superlattices introducing phenomena absent natural magnets.

Moiré superlattices at the topological insulator Bi2Te3

We report on the observation of complex superlattices at the surface of the topological insulator Bi2Te3. Scanning tunneling microscopy reveals the existence of two different periodic structures in addition to the Bi2Te3 atomic lattice, which is found to strongly affect the local electronic structure. These three different periodicities are interpreted to result from a single small in-plane rot...

Non-collinear magnetic order in nanostructures investigated by spin-polarized scanning tunneling microscopy*

The successful conjunction of the ultimate spatial resolution capability of the scanning tunneling microscope (STM) with the sensitivity to the spin of the tunneling electrons has opened the door to investigations of magnetism at the nanoscale where the fundamental interactions responsible for magnetic order can be studied. Spin-polarized (SP) STM allows insight into a fascinating world with su...

Multiple hot-carrier collection in photo-excited graphene Moiré superlattices

In conventional light-harvesting devices, the absorption of a single photon only excites one electron, which sets the standard limit of power-conversion efficiency, such as the Shockley-Queisser limit. In principle, generating and harnessing multiple carriers per absorbed photon can improve efficiency and possibly overcome this limit. We report the observation of multiple hot-carrier collection...

Non-collinear Spin Valve Effect in Ferromagnetic Semiconductor Trilayers

Abstract We report the observation of the spin valve effect in (Ga,Mn)As/p-GaAs/(Ga,Mn)As trilayer devices. Magnetoresistance measurements carried out in the current in plane geometry reveal positive magnetoresistance peaks when the two ferromagnetic layers are magnetized orthogonal to each other. Measurements carried out for different post-growth annealing conditions and spacer layer thickness...

Spin rotation technique for non-collinear magnetic systems: application to the generalized Villain model.

This work develops a generalized technique for determining the static and dynamic properties of any non-collinear magnetic system. By rotating the spin operators into the local spin reference frame, we evaluate the zeroth, first, and second order terms in a Holstein-Primakoff expansion, and through a Green's functions approach, we determine the structure factor intensities for the spin-wave fre...
